AI receptionist prices in NZ: 14 providers compared (October 2026)

The short answer

In October 2026, AI receptionists in New Zealand cost from $49 to $350 a month for an entry plan, across 13 providers that publish prices, and most add GST. The bigger difference is who sets it up. Most are self-serve; 4 charge a one-off setup fee; only FirstVoice AI and AppAI include done-for-you setup in the price. FirstVoice AI is from $297 a month with setup included, month to month, and is the only one that also sets up a free 2-week trial on your real calls.

Why the cheapest plan isn't the whole price

A self-serve plan's monthly fee buys the software. The work is yours: writing the call script, connecting your calendar, testing it with real calls, and fixing it every time a caller asks something it wasn't set up for. 8 of the 14 providers here work this way. If your time is worth more than that, the comparison that matters is between the providers who do it for you.

  • Setup. Done for you is either a one-off fee, from $199 to $499 where published, or included. Talkify's Custom Setup also comes with a 12-month contract.
  • Ongoing changes. Your business changes: prices, hours, services, staff. Ask who updates the script and what it costs. FirstVoice includes script updates on every plan.
  • Trying it first. Self-serve trials test the software, not the result, because you have to build it before you can judge it. FirstVoice AI builds it for you, then lets you trial it free for 2 weeks on your real calls.
  • Minutes and GST. Most plans include a set number of minutes and charge per minute after that, and most add 15% GST on top. FirstVoice adds no GST.
  • Introductory rates. Some prices rise after the first months. Talkify's $129 becomes $199 after 3 months, and Bizzy Boss labels its price as introductory.

How to compare quotes fairly

  1. Work out your minutes: calls a month times your average call length (most calls run 2 to 4 minutes).
  2. Ask for the monthly price including GST once any introductory rate ends.
  3. Add any setup fee, and check whether paid setup comes with a contract.
  4. Check what the entry plan actually does: messages only, or real bookings and transfers.
  5. Ask who fixes it when a caller asks something it wasn't set up for, and what that costs.
  6. Count your own hours if you're building it yourself. Our Talkify comparison has a calculator for exactly that.
  7. Test it on real calls before you commit. Our guide to testing an AI receptionist has 14 test calls to try.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI receptionist cost in NZ?

In October 2026, entry plans from 13 NZ providers ranged from $49 to $350 a month, most plus GST. The bigger difference is who does the setup. Self-serve plans are cheaper because you build it yourself. Done-for-you setup either costs a one-off fee ($199 to $499 where published) or is included in the monthly price, as it is with FirstVoice from $297 a month.

Which NZ AI receptionists set it up for you?

FirstVoice AI and AppAI include done-for-you setup in the monthly price. Bizzy Boss, Hellodesk, Talkify and TradieCall offer setup for a one-off fee, and Talkify's comes with a 12-month contract. The rest are set up by you in their app, sometimes with guidance.

Can I try an AI receptionist free before paying?

Several providers offer self-serve trials of 7 to 14 days. FirstVoice is the only one we found that sets your receptionist up for you at no cost and then lets you trial it free for 2 weeks on your real calls, with no credit card.

Do AI receptionist prices in NZ include GST?

Usually not. Most providers publish prices plus GST. TradieCall is the only one we found that states its prices include GST, and Talkify, AnswR and KiwiCalls don't say either way on their pricing pages. FirstVoice isn't GST-registered, so no GST is added to our prices.

What costs should I check besides the monthly price?

Setup fees, per-minute charges once you pass your included minutes, introductory rates that rise after a few months, prepaid call credit, and contracts that come with paid setup. Ask what you'll pay each month including GST once any offer ends, and who fixes the script when callers ask something new.

How up to date are these prices?

Every price was taken from the provider's own website on 5 October 2026 and links to its source. Providers change prices often, so check their page before you buy. If anything here is out of date, email [email protected] and we'll correct it.
